Next Sunday, December 22, is the fourth Sunday of Advent.

As Christmas approaches, let us ponder the words of N. Maxwell "Each of us is an Innkeeper who decides if we have room for Jesus."

*  Our annual Christmas Pageant will take place during the 11 a.m. service on Sunday, December 22.  Please make sure that your children arrive at church at 10:15 a.m. to get into costumes.  Godly Play finishes for 2019 with the Pageant, and will resume on January 12.

*  As well, on Sunday at 6:30 p.m., there will be the Lessons and Carols Service followed by the tree lighting. (Hot chocolate will be served after - thanks to Coffee Matters.)

*  This evening, Wednesday, December 18, from 5:30 to 7:30 will be the final community supper at Park Place.  Come and enjoy the delicious food and the fellowship that these gatherings provide.

*  In order to have your church givings included on your income receipt for 2019, they must be received at the church office by Tuesday, December 31, at 12 noon.

*  Please take note of the parish office hours during Christmas:  the office will be closed from December 25 to December 30 inclusive.  It will be open on Tuesday, December 31, from nine until noon. It will be closed on Wednesday, January 1, and will resume regular office hours on Thursday, January 2, 2020.

*  Several packages of church envelopes for 2020 remain at the back of the church.  Please pick them up soon, as well as those of other family members and your neighbours.

*  A list of Christmas Services is printed in the Chimes, as well as on the Parish facebook.  However, just to further remind you - on Christmas Eve there will be the Welsh Eucharist at 4 p.m., Holy Eucharist at 7 p.m. and Holy Communion at 11 p.m.  There will also be Holy Communion at 10 a.m. on Christmas Day.

*  The Santa Claus Breakfast was a great success again this year.  Quite a number came to enjoy breakfast as well as the visit by Santa and Mrs. Claus.  Special thanks to all who contributed to its success, especially the Men's Service Club which hosted the breakfast.  (See the parish facebook for some candid shots of the event. Emoji)

*  The food bank is again seeking your help.  This week they are hoping for tins of meat balls and gravy/Irish stew, tetra boxes of orange juice, and tinned fruit.  Your donations are always appreciated.

*  If you weren't at church last Sunday during the 11 a.m. service, you might like to view the few pictures (on the parish facebook page) of the last stage of our Advent project - Saint Margaret's Boat. The gifts were presented to Mr. Tobin, provincial coordinator of NL housing and homelessness network, for distribution to those for whom the gifts were named. What a successful project!  Thanks to all those who participated.

*  Captains, please remind your teams:  Sidespersons' Team # 1 and Counting Team # 8.

*  On Monday past, the Men's Service Club hosted its Christmas pot luck for members and their spouses/partners, and invited guests. As usual, all enjoyed the great food and the wonderful fellowship that these gatherings engender.  There are a few pictures on the Parish facebook of the event. Special thanks to all who made the evening possible.

Have a nice weekend!
Stay warm and God Bless!
Jean (On behalf of the Ascension)
